چکیده
ABSTRACT We examine the equilibrium of a magnetized neutron star crust. calculate axially symmetric models in which an elastic force balances solenoidal motion driven by Lorentz force. A large variety are allowed incorporating shear deformation; addition, toroidal-magnetic-field-dominated available. These results remarkably differ from those barotropic fluid stars. demonstrate some wherein magnetic energy exceeds energy. The excess comes fact that amount is associated with irrotational part force, balanced gravity and pressure. It sufficient for minor weak find elasticity crust plays important role on field confinement. Further, we present spatial distribution stress at limit, crust-fracture location can be identified. result has useful implications realistic crust-quake models.

Relativistic mechanics of neutron superfluid in (magneto) elastic star crust
At densities below the neutron drip threshold, a purely elastic solid model (including, if necessary, a frozen-in magnetic field) can provide an adequate description of a neutron star crust, but at higher densities it will be necessary to allow for the penetration of the solid lattice by an independently moving current of superfluid neutrons. In order to do this, the previously available catego...
متن کاملDurability of Neutron Star Crust
How long do neutron star mountains last? The durability of elastically deformed crust is important for neutron star physics including pulsar glitches, emission of gravitational waves from static mountains, and flares from star quakes. The durability is defined by the strength properties of the Yukawa crystals of ions, which make up the crust. In this paper we extend our previous results [Mon. N...
متن کاملShear modulus of neutron star crust
The shear modulus of solid neutron star crust is calculated by the thermodynamic perturbation theory, taking into account ion motion. At a given density, the crust is modelled as a bodycentred cubic Coulomb crystal of fully ionized atomic nuclei of one type with a uniform charge-compensating electron background. Classic and quantum regimes of ion motion are considered. The calculations in the c...
متن کاملBreaking stress of neutron star crust
The breaking stress (the maximum of the stress–strain curve) of neutron star crust is important for neutron star physics including pulsar glitches, emission of gravitational waves from static mountains and flares from star quakes. We perform many molecular dynamic simulations of the breaking stress at different coupling parameters (inverse temperatures) and strain rates. We describe our results...
متن کاملCoulomb crystals in neutron star crust
It is well known that neutron star crust in a wide range of mass densities and temperatures is in a crystal state. At a given density, the crystal is made of fully ionized atomic nuclei of a single species immersed in a nearly incompressible (i.e., constant and uniform) charge compensating background of electrons. This model is known as the Coulomb crystal model. In this talk we analyze thermod...
